Due to recent exposure to the domaining community on the web, we're seen
a a high level of interest in country specific .edu and .gov domains over the last week. It should be noted, that these domains are, in most places, strictly controlled and for academic/government facilities only. It is highly unlikely that you will be able to register a .gov domain in any country, unless you are in fact a Government agency in that country, and documentary evidence will need to be provided. Similar conditions apply to .edu domains in most countries, with evidence of eligibility required at the point of registration. We have, however found that it is possible to register .edu domains in Latvia, ie 'domain'.edu.lv Please note before rushing to request a domain, that the domains are intended for educational establishments and, if prompted for evidence of this, the onus will be on the registrant to provide this. If you cannot provide satisfactory proof of your entitlement to the name to the registry, we cannot guarantee the long term use of the name. Paul www.bb-online.com
