Background

Peru has the ccTLD ".pe", and registrations take place under sub-domains of .pe, as wel as the second-level .pe domain name.

The sub-domains available are:

  • .com.pe
  • .edu.pe
  • .org.pe
  • .gob.pe
  • .net.pe
  • .mil.pe
  • .nom.pe

Registration directly under the second level .pe domain was introduced on December 8 2007

Some of these sub-domains are restricted, .gob.pe is only available to members of the Peru government, .mil.pe is reserved for the Peru military, .edu.pe is reserved for academic institutions within Peru.

As well as some sub-domains being restricted to certain bodies, there are some domain names which are unavailable for registration. Domain names which match internet protocols are forbidden, these include www, web, tcp, http, wap, wais, rfc and so on. This list is not complete, as a general rule the .pe registry will not allow a domain name to be registered if it matches an internet protocol name.

Geographic place names in Peru are also reserved and unavailable for general registration, these can be delegated to groups to who the registration is deemed beneficial to the community, as decided by the .pe registry. Likewise, the names of native languages and the national denominations both in Spanish and in the native language of the different Peruvian ethnic groups.

Domain names which match a trademark, slogan or corporate name may only be applied for by their owners.

The minimum length of a .pe name is 1 character, although the registry suggest 5 characters, and the maximum length is 20 characters, but the registry suggest 15 characters.

  • Languages recognised in Peru are Spanish

The ISOC also enriches professional knowledge by a Online magazine. The magazine constitutes a non-commercial platform for articles and papers in professional fields that, for the most part, do not receive adequate reference in Israel's computer-related press.

Within the .IL ccTLD, third level Domain Names are allocated by ISOC-IL under a limited number of second level domains ("SLD"). Here below we introduce these SLDs in two tables. The first table shows Domain Names that may be allocated to any person or legal entity and the second table shows Domain Names that can only be allocated under certain criteria.

.co.il for commercial entities.
.org.il for non-commercial entities.

SLDs to holders meeting certain criteria:

.ac.il for academic institutions of higher education that have been recognized by the Committee for Higher Education ("MALAG").
.gov.il for governmental entities of the State of Israel.
.idf.il for Israel military entities.
.k12.il for kindergartens, elementary schools, and high schools as classified by Ministry of Education. Allocation under the .K12.IL SLD is made in the fourth level in the following format: ..K12.IL.
.muni.il for municipal and local government authorities
.net.il for Internet Service Providers holding a valid Internet Service Provider license from the Israeli Ministry of Communications.

The following regulations applies to an "il" domain name: • Domain Names needs to comply with the rules posted on http://www.isoc.org.il/domains/il- domain-rules.html.

• You can not apply for a domain names that is already allocated.

• Domain Names shorter than 3 (three) characters.

• A Domain Name may not start or end with a hyphen, nor can it contain two consecutive hyphens (i.e, "--").

• A Domain Name can not contain obscene words and names incorporating foul language, names that are injurious to public order or to public sensibilities, or names that otherwise do not comply with the laws of the State of Israel.

• A Domain Name may not be identical to any existing Top Level Domain name in the global Internet (at the time of application), and may not be the string "www".

• Domain Names must comply with the technical requirements of DNS in effect at the time the application is submitted.

Today (27th July - 2009) there are 150,404 registered Domain Names under the ccTLD ".il".

Background

Since the year 1998 when the assignment of domain names for the Principality of Monoco area were entrusted by the Government of Monaco, The Direction des Telecommunications de Monaco had been the registry for the ccTLD .mc while also maintaining the database of .mc.

In charge of this registry and safe operations of the Domain name system, also known as 'DNS', is the Councillor for Public Works and Social Affairs. Only public/private organisations or legal commercial entities are accepted for the Monegasque domain names. Those applications sent from single people or informal organisations will not be accepted or given a domain name.

Domain names can represent a company name, an organisation or association, a logo or a trade mark. Rules that apply to the names are as follows:

  1. The minimum amount of characters allowed in the domain name is 3. This is unless there is a justified reason for anything different.
  2. Only the roman alphabet of 'a-z' is authorised.
  3. Numbers '0-9' can be used, as can hyphens.
  4. All other characters are not suitable for a .mc domain name.

Second level domain names that are currently managed by the Direction des Telecommunications de Monaco:

  • .mc - Used for company and organisation names.
  • .tm.mc - Used for registered trade marks registered under .mc.
  • .asso.mc - Used for associations registered under .mc.

It is up to the person applying to make sure that any requested domain name does not harm law concerning trade marks or the code of intellectual property. Any disagreements about the use of a .mc domain name must be dealt between those concerned.

.bs is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for the Bahamas, officially known as the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, located in the Atlantic Ocean. It is registered under and operated by BSNIC and sponsored by the College of the Bahamas. Applicants who wish to register under the .bs domain name do not have to have a legal presence in the Bahamas, despite its intended use. However, the .bs domain name is not widely used.
