Once the domain is registered
All Serbian domain names registered with us are stored on our international server. Domains registered with us are automatically provided with their own under-construction page - this notifies potential registrants that the name has been acquired and is now registered. The under-construction page is offered free of charge and may be used indefinitely.
It is possible for Web and/or Mail forwarding to be provided for Serbian domains.
Domain transfer/release fees are charged are by a majority of registrars, but BB Online make no charge to transfer a domain to another Serbian domain name registrar.
Background
.rs is the ccTld for Serbia
Only local legal entities can become accredited registrars. If a foreign company wants to become a registrar, that could be done through a branch office registered for operations in Serbia or by signing a contract on business cooperation with some of already existing registrars.
".rs" is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Serbia. The letters of ".rs" stand for Republika Srbija which is Serbian for Republic of Serbia. Registration of the domain names with ".rs" extension commenced on March 10, 2008.
Following the decision on 26 September 2006 by the ISO 3166 Maintenance Agency to allocate RS as the ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code for Serbia IANA assigned ".rs" as ccTLD for Serbia. This decision followed the June 2006 split of Serbia and Montenegro into two separate countries. Along with the Montenegrin ME, RS replaces the code YU which was assigned to the former Serbia and Montenegro as a legal successor of Yugoslavia, which was the original holder of YU domain.
Registration renewal for .YU domains ended the 4th of may 2009. A total of 4,051 ".yu" domains were renewed before that and these ccTLD's will remain active online until the 30 September 2009. This is due to that ICANN resolved that the former ".yu" domain is to be operated temporarily by the Serbian National Register of Internet Domain Names, the operators of the new .rs domain registry.
In order to promote the use of the new national domain, RNIDS launched a new campaign on the 1st of June that last until the 31st of August 2009. The idea is to offer even cheaper prices for "in.rs" domain registrations. During this time, Registrars who participate in the campaign will be charged 150 RSD per registered "in.rs" domain.
The Registry for National Internet Domain of Serbia (RNIDS) was founded on July 8, 2006 by the Ministry of Science and a group made up of 34 organizations interested in the domain space. The process of registering ".rs" domains for end users is performed through a numbers of registrars.
In order to become a registrar an organization must meet the following criteria:
1. be a legal entity located in Serbia;
2. register, renew or transfer at least 200 domain-years every year during which it performs its duties as the registrar.
3. have technical and administrative capacities for performing services of domain registration in accordance with the Basic requirements for registrars of ".rs" domains, Technical and administrative requirements for registrars of ".rs" domains and other specifications published by RNIDS;
4. successfully carry out the process of testing administrative and technical capacities for performing domain registration services within a 30-day period from the date of signing the Contract for performing ".rs" domain registrations;
The available second level domains (2LD's) for the domain space ".rs" are:

Foreign organizations can register second level domains but notice that the administrative contact for those domains has to reside and be registered in Serbia. The registrant must hence submit proof of this.
It should be noted that RNIDS is not responsible for settling any disputes regarding registered ".rs" domains. According to common global practice, RNIDS has regulated settling possible disputes regarding the ownership of registered ".rs" domains through a arbitrage process. Arbitrage is a cheaper, faster cheaper and a more efficient process of settling disputes instead of summoning parties to court.
